About Us
Our Background
Being on the continent of Africa, the needs are numerous. Individuals within communities often find themselves in need of just a small push. They may not qualify for government interventions when available, but all they need is someone who believes in them to give them a boost in order to be autonomous.
We want to be that boost.
Fondation Masengo was inspired by Justine Masengo who helped many students access education.
She inspired many members of her community by her generosity - regularly providing funds for students she did not know personally to prosper academically.
Bio
Carine Masengo Sebera is the founder and president of Fondation Masengo. She is currently a high school French teacher and has been teaching in different forms, including her own French club, for years. Giving back to the community, especially, in the form of education, is something Carine learned early in her life through her mother. Outside of work, she is a wife, mother of three, and an active member of her church.
Growing up I witnessed my mother generously assisting community members through various means, by lending an attentive ear, by paying school fees for some, by taking others to hospitals to name just a few examples. As an adult, I found myself doing the same, caring for people in need in different ways according to their needs and by my means. One year after my mother passed away, I decided to formalize the work I was doing as a celebration of the legacy I received from her, Mme Justine Masengo Seminari.
